The Olympic Peninsula is just bounding with places to see. Historical Port Townsend is 20 minutes drive and Port Angeles is an hour and 15 minutes drive from your vacation home. From Port Angles, drive up to Hurricane Ridge high in the Olympic mountains looking north across the Strait of Juan de Fuca at Vancouver Island, Canada and Canadian city of Victory. Take the ferry from Port Angeles across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Victoria, BC. In the spring, summer and fall, visit the famous Buchart Gardens in Victoria or have high tea at the Empress Hotel. If you want to make a several day trip, continue on to Vancouver via Canadian ferry system, then drive south back to the United States and south on Whidby Island and return on the ferry to Port Townsend.
The unique Hoh Rain Forest which experiences the greatest rainfall in the United States is located on the western shore of the Olympic peninsula. Don't worry, that's on the other side of the mountains, yet only two and a half hours away. The Getaway is located on the drier side of the mountains.
