The Oak Bay Getaway is located on Oak Bay (Yarr Road at mile marker 1.8 Oak Bay Road) on the eastern shore of the fabulous Olympic Peninsula in Port Hadlock, Washington between Port Ludlow and Port Townsend. It has three bedrooms to accommodate six people comfortably, two with king size beds and one with a queen. The loft master bedroom has its own private bath and walk-in closet. Wireless DSL Internet access available for additional charge.

This vacation home was built in 1996. In December 2000, we decided to share it with people looking for solitude, yet located near multiple recreational and tourist activities. It sits on an acre of beach front property. The property and surrounding area have been in the family's possession for over a hundred years.

From the greatroom, the master bedroom, or the front deck, you can watch the herons feed at low tide, or a pair of local eagles soar overhead.  Ships pass through Puget Sound between the sea and Seattle a mile off shore. Relax, watch and enjoy yourself away from the bustle of the city.

If you like crab, try your luck at low tide off the beach.

The home is equipped with all of the modern conveniences; phone, cable TV, wi-fi (extra cost), gas heating free standing fireplace stove, microwave oven, dish washer, clothes washer and dryer, linens, towels, dishes and flatware. All you need to bring is the food.

In the event you don't want to cook, try nearby restaurants,  Ajax Cafe (mile marker 0.2 Oak Bay Road), and the Inn and Harbormaster (mile marker 8.7 Oak Bay Road) at the Port Ludlow marina to the south. We recommend them all. In Port Townsend, we recommend Fins. It is a white table cloth restaurant on the water. Their crab cakes are the best we've had, the prime rib was huge and their seared scallops delightful. The local Port Townsend newspaper provides current information on activities.

Those who wish to bring their boat may moor it at the Marina at the Inn of Port Hadlock, about a mile away. The boat could also be anchored in front of the house, but the extensive tidal flats would result in the boat being 1/4 offshore and dingy transportation to and from it would be impossible at low water.
